What is Metal Spring Snap Button ?

Sew-on (or sew-in) snaps are hand sewn to the surface of the fabric using a whipstitch. These are the most commonly-used snaps for home dressmakers, featuring the conventional ball-and-socket mechanism and sewing holes.

These types of fastenings are comprised of either 2 metal parts for the sewn on variety, or 4 metal parts for the riveted or “no –sew” variety. These type of fastenings have a characteristic “click” or snap, hence the term snap fasteners!

All snaps come with two parts that ‘snap’ together. One side of the snap is called the ball and has a little-rounded knob sticking up. The other side is the socket and the ball fits into the socket. Snap! When they fit together they connect and join up to fasten your garment.
